Watch on Sundance's website Radu Jude's film "The Tube With A Hat" (20mins). For those that live in the US, you can download a copy of the film from iTunes...(realistically you only need a US-addressed credit card, keep in mind).
Jude was Assistant Director on The Death Of Mr. Lazarescu, as well as another victim of the CNC funding debacle.
You can see similarities between Lazarescu and Tube w/ a Hat (long, mobile takes, cinema-verite authenticity, raw/real unmediated humanism from characters; clearly molded characters)...but for me the short (at first viewing) is a truer Neorealist film...a Romanian Bicycle Thieves.
De Sica and Bazin would be proud
